I received my Bachelors in Nursing in 1992 & my Masters in Nursing/Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification in 1998. I have been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC®) since 2003. I have worked in the clinical setting and am now pleased to offer home visits for your comfort and convenience. Every baby is different & so is every breastfeeding experience. Whether this is your first time breastfeeding or your fourth, whether you want to breastfeed for 2 weeks or 2 years, whether you are a stay-at-home mom or are returning to work, I will answer your questions and help you create your own success.
I offer compassionate and knowledgable breastfeeding support to assist women with their questions and help them meet their goals, whatever they may be.
An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant® is a healthcare professional who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding. Issues that can be addressed include sore nipples, latch difficulties, engorgement, plugged ducts, milk supply concerns, breastfeeding multiples, returning to work, among many others.
Every baby is different & so is every breastfeeding experience. A prenatal visit is helpful for the many questions surrounding breastfeeding, especially for first time moms (or first time breastfeeding moms) or those expecting multiples. I can answer questions, share best practice ideas and develop a follow-up plan to get breastfeeding off to a great start.
An initial visit lasts 1.5-2 hours. We will discuss any issues you may be having with breastfeeding, including latch issues, sore nipples, engorgement, baby's weight, pumping and milk collection or anything else you are wondering about.
Some issues can be resolved in 1 visit; however, if you have ongoing challenges, or if new challenges arise as your baby grows, I am available for follow-up as well. These visits are usually shorter in length.
Phone consultations are available to answer some questions. However, many situations will require at least one in-home visit to thoroughly evaluate your situation; after an initial visit, a phone consult may be an alternative to an in-home visit. These are billed at $15/15 minute increments.
The first 20 miles (40 miles roundtrip) from my home, Prior Lake, are included in the fee. Additional miles are billed at $.50/mile.
Home Lactation Services, LLC is a fee for service company and does not take insurance. Payment is due at time of visit: cash, check, or credit cards, including FSA or HSA accounts. A superbill/invoice will be provided that you may submit to your insurance company. Insurance reimbursement is not guaranteed.
